Police Arrest Man with 53 Bags of Marijuana in Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — Police arrested a man in Isla Mujeres after catching him handling what appeared to be marijuana during a routine patrol on one of the island’s main streets.

Officers from the Public Security Department detained the suspect on Avenida Rueda Medina after spotting him manipulating several transparent plastic bags containing a green, dry plant substance resembling marijuana. During a search, they found a backpack with 53 small ziplock bags of the same substance.

Authorities also seized a gram scale, 1,100 pesos in cash, and a cell phone as evidence. The suspect, identified as David Joel N, was informed of the charges and taken into custody.

He has been handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Trafficking, which will determine his legal status in the coming hours.
