Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A breakfast at a new café, dinner somewhere you have been meaning to try, or a return visit to a neighborhood favorite could come with a special offer this fall. Playa Spice 2026 began Oct. 1 and runs through Nov. 15, with participating Playa del Carmen restaurants offering their own promotions, special menus and dining experiences.

Organized by the local chapter of Mexico’s restaurant association, CANIRAC, the campaign aims to bring more customers into the city’s restaurants during the slower tourism season. Roberto Lepe Gutiérrez, president of CANIRAC Playa del Carmen, said at the campaign’s September presentation that the shared promotion would help restaurants reach diners who might not otherwise discover them. The municipal Tourism Secretariat is supporting the initiative.

Unlike a food festival held at one site, Playa Spice takes place at the participating restaurants. The launch announcement names Lido Cocina de Playa, Café Antoinette, Fah, Piaggia Restaurante, Aldea Corazón, Mamita’s Beach Club, Chez Waffle, Ah Cacao Chocolate Café, Los Aguachiles, Chez Celine, Tanuki Playa, Catalania Cocina de Madre and Boston, among others.

Offers may include discounts on food and drinks, special menus, dining experiences and two-for-one promotions. They are not one standard deal available at every restaurant. What is offered, when it applies and whether a reservation is needed will depend on the establishment.

For residents, the appeal is a reason to explore more of the city’s dining scene while directing spending to local restaurants. Visitors can use the six-week campaign to look beyond their usual stops, provided they check the details of each offer before booking a table.
