Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The government of Playa del Carmen, led by Municipal President Estefanía Mercado, is fulfilling its promise to establish the city as the epicenter of culture and major events in Quintana Roo.
This year saw the strengthening of festivals that form part of the city's identity, such as Janal Pixán and Magical Christmas. The Feria del Carmen was restored to its full splendor, and for the first time in the history of Quintana Roo, the International Book Fair was brought to the region, introducing the world of literature to thousands of local families.
Furthermore, Playa del Carmen served as the venue for 13 concerts featuring national and international artists, which collectively drew more than 1,250,000 attendees. These events have positioned the municipality as a top-tier cultural and entertainment destination while simultaneously boosting the local economy.
Through these actions, Playa del Carmen reaffirms its leadership as the municipality with the most robust cultural and event offerings in the state. This demonstrates that culture is not a luxury or a privilege, but a right and a fundamental tool for strengthening the social fabric, identity, and prosperity for all.
“We said we were going to turn Playa del Carmen into the epicenter of culture and the best events in Quintana Roo… and we have delivered on that promise,” stated Municipal President Estefanía Mercado.
