Playa del Carmen Sets September 30 Deadline to Join El Buen Fin 2026

Storefronts and shoppers in Playa del Carmen ahead of the El Buen Fin 2026 nationwide sales event

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Shops, companies and service providers in Playa del Carmen have until September 30 to register and take part officially in El Buen Fin, the national sales event scheduled this year for November 13-17, the president of the local chamber of commerce said.

Iovana Franco, who heads the Playa del Carmen branch of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Canaco Servytur), said the call is open to every sector, allowing small and medium-sized businesses, retail outlets, service providers and tourism operators to sign up. The chamber will assist local businesses that need help completing their registration.

Officials Aim to Give Shoppers Certainty on Discounts

Franco said participating establishments will receive official materials identifying them as part of the program. She explained that registration is also intended to give consumers greater certainty about advertised promotions and to make it easier to monitor merchants and prevent practices such as raising prices beforehand and then presenting them as supposed bargains.

The Canaco Servytur president said interested businesses can approach the chamber directly for support during the process. She added that formalizing participants will give officials better oversight of the companies taking part and make it easier to supervise promotions across the five days of sales.

The retail sector expects El Buen Fin to provide a lift after months of weaker economic activity and to help set the stage for a recovery heading into the year-end holiday season. Franco said the program has produced favorable results for Playa del Carmen businesses in past editions, though she did not yet provide an estimate of how many establishments will participate in 2026.
