Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Hotel operator Norte 19 has begun operating the Aloft by Marriott Playa del Carmen, adding a new brand to its portfolio and deepening its reach into properties that differ from the hotels it currently runs.
The hotel has 167 rooms and sits on Calle 34 Norte, steps from Quinta Avenida, one of the busiest tourism and commercial corridors in Playa del Carmen.
Aloft by Marriott Playa del Carmen offers a modern design aimed at travelers looking for social spaces, connectivity and a dynamic trip that blends rest with socializing. The property delivers this through venues including the Nook restaurant, the Splash Rooftop terrace with panoramic sea views, and the WXYZ bar. It also features a gym, a pool, meeting space, a business area and amenities for guests traveling with pets.
“With the addition of Aloft by Marriott to our portfolio, we take another step in strengthening our capabilities as a multi-brand operator by evolving our platform. Today we have the experience and structure to manage products with different propositions and guest profiles,” said Eduardo Ymay Seemann, general director of Norte 19.
With the opening of Aloft by Marriott Playa del Carmen, Operadora Hotelera Norte 19 now runs 141 hotels under six hotel brands and more than 17,000 rooms in Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica and Chile.
The company said it will keep pursuing its growth strategy, strengthening its operating capabilities, identifying new opportunities and expanding its presence to generate value for partners, investors and guests.
Other Marriott Projects in Playa del Carmen
Marriott International and The Reef Resorts & Spa announced in mid-August an agreement to transform three properties in Playa del Carmen that will join the Tribute Portfolio collection as all-inclusive resorts in 2027.
The project calls for a full renovation of the properties, with work scheduled to begin in late 2026.
The deal will expand Marriott International’s all-inclusive lodging offer in Mexico and add 676 rooms to its portfolio, along with event space for up to 900 people.
The three The Reef Resorts & Spa hotels covered by the agreement are Playacar Beachfront, with 198 rooms; 28 Adults-Only Luxury Hotel & Spa, with 120 rooms; and Coco Beachfront, which currently has 198 rooms and plans to expand to 358 units by 2028.
The addition of these hotels will also mark the debut of Tribute Portfolio Hotels in Playa del Carmen. According to the announcement, the renovations will focus on preserving the essence and distinctive character of each property while integrating them into Marriott International’s global platform.
