Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Solidaridad municipal government will host a free event this month to help residents correct errors in birth certificates, resolve issues with their CURP identification numbers, and receive legal advice on identity documents.
The “Your Identity is Your Right” program will set up at Parque Lázaro Cárdenas del Río on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Civil registry staff and legal advisors will provide direct assistance to help residents regularize official documents without having to travel to government offices.
Municipal officials said the initiative aims to support citizens who face difficulties accessing government services or social programs due to errors in their identity documents.
Available Services
The event will offer several free administrative services that typically require visits to government offices:
- Birth registration for newborns or late registrations
- Correction of birth certificates for errors in names, surnames, dates, or places of birth
- Validation of data in official documents
- Management and correction of CURP (Unique Population Registry Code) to align with birth certificates
- Search for birth records in state or national databases
- Free legal advice on civil status and legal identity matters
Recommendations for Attendees
Authorities recommended that residents come prepared to expedite service:
- Bring birth certificates or documents containing errors, even if they are copies
- Present valid official identification (voter ID card or other photo ID)
- For birth registration, bring the hospital birth certificate
- Arrive early as free services typically have high demand
- Check specific requirements beforehand based on the needed procedure
Municipal authorities emphasized that having correct official documents is essential for school, work, banking, and social program transactions. Errors in birth certificates or inconsistencies in CURP data can prevent people from accessing government benefits.
