Playa del Carmen, QRoo — The government of Playa del Carmen and the state delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) are advancing in the construction of a joint agenda aimed at strengthening food security while simultaneously supporting local producers and families.

Representing Mayor Estefanía Mercado, the Secretary of Economic Development and Investment Attraction, Antón Bojórquez, characterized the meeting held with the Sader delegate, Enrique Morales, as positive, noting that important cooperation agreements were reached.

Antón Bojórquez and Enrique Morales defined key strategies to work on the incorporation of Playa del Carmen into the National Corn-Tortilla Agreement, a federal initiative that seeks to support local tortilla shops and contribute to the reduction of the price of this basic food in the diet of Mexicans.

Likewise, it was agreed to promote the "Cosechando Soberanía" (Harvesting Sovereignty) strategy, the objective of which is to directly link producers from the region with supply centers, such as municipal public markets, thereby strengthening the local economy and guaranteeing fresher and more accessible food for the population.

Antón Bojórquez highlighted the relevance of this tripartite collaboration between the federation, the state, and the municipality. "We are joining efforts with the Government of Mexico and the State Government to bring well-being to more families, guarantee fair prices, and generate better conditions for our producers," he stated.

During the meeting, the delegate expressed his willingness to work closely with the municipal administration of Estefanía Mercado. "We are ready to work hand-in-hand with the Government of Playa del Carmen, to promote projects that strengthen the countryside and contribute to the well-being of families. The instruction from President Claudia Sheinbaum is clear: that the benefits reach the people directly."
