Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Tree trimming and the removal of debris are the primary demands from public educational centers in Playa del Carmen, according to Félix Teh Cen, the new municipal director of Schools and Libraries. The official was reassigned to this position after previously leading the Institute of Youth.

After several days of assessing the situation in the schools, Teh Cen reported that his office has received numerous requests. He stated that maintenance of the school facilities is the most frequent request from these educational centers.

He added that they are currently planning for 2026, during which some schools could receive support from English teachers or psychologists.

Library Operations and Attendance Initiatives

Regarding the status of public libraries, Teh Cen said they are operating normally, although the Leona Vicario library on Juárez Avenue has experienced a slight drop in attendance.

He confirmed that various activities will be held in libraries throughout the city, as well as in the Puerto Aventuras library, with the goal of increasing public attendance at these spaces.
