Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A woman escaped with her young child after an alleged domestic assault early Tuesday morning in the Villas del Sol neighborhood, with neighbors intervening to help her and alert authorities.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Jilgueros Street at CTM Avenue, where residents heard screams coming from a home. After several minutes, they saw a woman exit the residence carrying her child and calling for help.
According to witness accounts, the victim was allegedly beaten repeatedly by her partner, who was reportedly intoxicated. The woman managed to leave the house and collapsed at the entrance while neighbors rushed to provide assistance.
Fearing that neighbors would call authorities, the alleged assailant fled the scene.

Police officers conducted an operation in the surrounding area to locate the suspect but were unsuccessful. Authorities said they have obtained the suspect’s description and are continuing their search.
