Chetumal, Quintana Roo — A total of 468,683 students, including 382,064 enrolled in public schools and 86,619 in private institutions, resumed classes this Monday following the conclusion of the Holy Week vacation period, which ran from April 14 to April 25. The announcement was made by the Secretariat of Education of Quintana Roo (SEQ).

Full School Reopening Across the State

The SEQ confirmed that 100% of public and private schools across all educational levels reopened their doors in Quintana Roo’s 11 municipalities. The return aligns with the state’s New Agreement for Wellbeing and Development, championed by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, which prioritizes quality, humanistic, inclusive, and equitable education for all students.

Enrollment and Infrastructure Breakdown

For the 2024-2025 academic year, Quintana Roo’s education system serves 468,683 students, distributed as follows:

  • Public schools: 382,064 students
  • Private schools: 86,619 students

The state operates 2,700 educational centers, comprising 2,077 public and 623 private institutions. These schools employ 26,728 teachers.
