Othón P. Blanco, QRoo — The 2025-2026 academic year officially commenced this Monday with the return to classrooms of 338,484 basic education students enrolled in preschool, primary, and secondary schools across the state.

Following two months of summer vacation, schools were once again filled with children and adolescents, marking the start of a new academic period. The students are distributed across 2,367 public and private schools.

Educational authorities highlighted that the return to school comes with a commitment to reinforce educational quality. School campuses were again full of students and parents who arrived to drop off their children at the start of the educational day.

The Quintana Roo Secretariat of Education (SEQ) reported that prior actions involving cleaning, maintenance, and administrative organization were implemented in the schools to guarantee a safe and orderly return.

The start of a new school cycle also represents a social and economic impact, as the educational community is reactivated, generating movement in sectors such as transportation, commerce, and services.
