Cancun, Quintana Roo — A shooting on Talleres Avenue in Cancun’s La Jungla neighborhood left one man dead and another critically injured on Friday afternoon.
According to initial reports, armed assailants shot two men in the street. One victim died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and torso. The other sustained a gunshot wound to the head and paramedics rushed him to Cancun General Hospital in serious condition.
Police officers responded to a 911 call and cordoned off the area to preserve the crime scene. Forensic experts from the State Prosecutor’s Office arrived shortly after to process evidence, document the scene, and remove the body.
The deceased victim’s body went to the Forensic Medical Service for an autopsy. Family members remained at the scene as authorities continued their investigation. The State Prosecutor’s Office has opened a case file to determine what happened.
