Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Officials announced a new direct flight between Monterrey and Cozumel, operated by Viva Aerobus, as part of efforts to boost tourism and air connectivity in the Mexican Caribbean.
The route will resume operations on March 26 with two weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays.
The flight from Monterrey will depart at 4:35 p.m., arriving in Cozumel at 7:50 p.m. The return flight will leave Cozumel at 8:30 p.m., landing in Monterrey at 10:15 p.m.
Each flight can carry up to 180 passengers, which is expected to increase tourist flow to the island.
In 2025, Cozumel International Airport recorded over 646,000 passenger arrivals, reflecting sustained growth and coordinated efforts to strengthen connectivity.
The new route resulted from tourism promotion work by the state government during Quintana Roo’s participation in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid and the ANATO international fair in Bogotá, Colombia, where strategic agreements with airlines and sector partners were consolidated to expand the Mexican Caribbean’s presence in key markets.
