Cancún — A motorcyclist lost his life after being struck by a unit of the state-run Transporte Terrestre Estatal (TTE). The incident occurred at the intersection of 93rd Street North and Niños Héroes Avenue, near Superblocks 220 and 221.
According to the report, the van, with unit number 560, was traveling toward Kabah Avenue when it struck the motorcyclist, who allegedly merged without caution from 93rd Street North. The collision was so violent that the victim died instantly; paramedics who arrived at the scene only confirmed the death.
Residents of the area stated that the motorcyclist had been performing dangerous maneuvers, known as "wheelies," minutes before the accident. However, this version of events has not been officially corroborated, and ministerial authorities are continuing their investigations to clarify the facts and determine liability.
The Directorate of Traffic cordoned off the area to allow for the work of forensic personnel and the Medical Forensic Service (Semefo), who removed the body. The identity of the victim has not been officially released, pending notification and identification by family members.
The driver of the van was detained at the scene by security elements and turned over to the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Common Jurisdiction at the State Attorney General's Office. This authority will determine his legal status as the investigation progresses.
