Two teenagers found safe in Tulum after being reported missing

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Two teenagers reported missing in Tulum were found safe and in good health after a coordinated effort by family members, authorities, and citizens on social media.

The disappearance sparked alarm among residents after missing person alerts circulated widely on Facebook, WhatsApp, and other platforms. Dozens of people shared the information in hopes of helping locate the youths.

According to sources within the Tulum Public Security and Citizen Protection Department, the teenagers are believed to have skipped school together, which triggered search protocols by municipal authorities and agencies responsible for missing person reports.

Family members remained on alert for hours while security personnel conducted follow-up efforts. Although officials have not disclosed the exact location where the teenagers were found, sources close to the case confirmed they were located in good physical condition and later returned to their families.

The incident caused tension and distress among those close to the teenagers, particularly given the increase in missing person reports across Quintana Roo in recent months. The rapid dissemination of the alerts prompted a swift citizen response.

Authorities have not announced whether any further proceedings or intervention by specialized agencies will follow. However, residents highlighted the importance of community collaboration and digital platforms in expediting such searches.

The case ended without serious consequences for the teenagers, but it underscored the growing concern among families in Tulum over the frequency of missing person alerts shared on social media.
