Teen held as alleged hitman in Cancún drug bust

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A minor was detained by officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security in possession of drugs and a firearm during a patrol in Supermanzana 236 of Benito Juárez municipality.

Details of the Arrest

The arrest occurred on Calle 67, between Calles 120-A and 118, after officers observed a young man leaning against the trunk of a red Volkswagen Jetta. Upon noticing the police presence, the minor allegedly retrieved a small bag containing what appeared to be marijuana from a fanny pack. He then attempted to flee by entering the vehicle but was intercepted by authorities.

During the confrontation, the suspect reportedly became aggressive and verbally abused the officers, prompting a search. Authorities seized:

  • 30 small bags of marijuana
  • A .380-caliber handgun with a loaded magazine and seven live rounds
  • A cell phone
  • A fanny pack
  • The vehicle, which bore Guerrero license plates

The minor, identified by the initials R.M.D., was placed under the custody of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation.
