Medellín, Colombia — Mexico’s artistic swimming team made a historic start at the World Cup in Medellín, winning one gold and two silver medals in the opening events.
The national team secured gold in the technical team routine with 263.2375 points, outperforming the United States and Canada. Their performance showcased strong synchronization, precision, and high difficulty.
In individual events, Diego Villalobos earned two silver medals. He placed second in the men’s solo technical final with 207.1000 points, and later teamed with Nayeli Mondragón to take silver in the mixed duet technical event with 197.6209 points.
These results highlight Mexico’s growing strength in mixed and individual categories, which have gained prominence in recent years. The team’s performance in Medellín reinforces their status as an emerging power in international artistic swimming and builds confidence for upcoming international competitions and the Olympic cycle.
