Mexico Designates Cancún Financial and Technological District as Development Pole

Official gazette publication declaring the Cancún Financial and Technological District as an economic development pole.

Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Federal Official Gazette has published the declaration establishing the Financial and Technological District of Cancún as an Economic Development Pole for Wellbeing, a step Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa called historic for Quintana Roo.

Lezama announced the publication Friday, saying the project will lay the groundwork to attract investment, create better-paying jobs, and expand professional opportunities for new generations.

“The economic future of Quintana Roo is already underway, and we are going to build it together,” the governor said.

“This project means more and better jobs, opportunities for our young people, and a stronger, more diversified and competitive economy,” she added. “Quintana Roo is a world leader in tourism, and now it will also be a benchmark in technology, artificial intelligence, financial services and innovation.”

According to Lezama, the declaration also gives the district strategic significance by making it the first Economic Development Pole for Wellbeing in the country tied to services, in recognition of the state’s economic strength, its vision for the future, and the talent of its people.

The project site is near federal highways 180 and 307, with direct access to the Colosio road interchange. It is located 4.1 kilometers from the Cancún station of the Tren Maya and within five kilometers of Cancún International Airport.
