QUINTANA ROO, Mexico — The National Water Commission (CONAGUA) has issued an alert for the potential impact of various meteorological phenomena across Mexico, which could generate adverse conditions in Quintana Roo in the coming hours.

According to the latest report from the National Meteorological System, Cold Front Number 14, a trough in the medium and high levels of the atmosphere, and the polar and subtropical jet streams will remain active in the country. While the majority of their influence will be felt in northwestern Mexico, the presence of low-pressure channels over the central and southeastern parts of the country, combined with the influx of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, are key factors for the Quintana Roo region.

Strong rainfall is forecast for Chiapas (central and southern areas), with showers expected in Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Veracruz (the Los Tuxtlas and Olmeca regions), and Tabasco. Isolated rains are predicted for Jalisco, Colima, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo. This means that, while intense storms are not widely expected, the possibility of precipitation in the state is real and must be taken into account.

Additionally, a cold environment with possible snowfall or sleet is forecast for the Sierra de San Pedro Mártir in Baja California, highlighting the diversity of active phenomena at a national level.

For Quintana Roo, it is crucial to stay informed on the evolution of the low-pressure channels and Caribbean moisture. Rains are expected to prevail in Quintana Roo in the coming hours.

Recommendations for the Population of Quintana Roo

  • Stay attentive to notices from your municipal and state Civil Protection authorities.
  • If driving, do so with caution, especially if rain occurs.
  • Avoid crossing streams or flooded areas.
  • Secure objects that could be swept away by wind or water.
  • In coastal zones, pay attention to wave conditions; although a direct impact on this is not detailed in the report, it is a general preventive measure in the face of cold fronts and humidity.

Authorities will continue to monitor these meteorological systems. The population is recommended to follow official updates for any changes in the forecast.
