Mérida, Mexico — The city of Mérida has been selected as the host for the 2026 Environmental Expo Forum, an event dedicated to sustainability and climate action. The forum will be held from June 19 to 21 at the Yucatán Siglo XXI Convention Center, bringing together companies, educational institutions, organizations, and citizens to promote environmental protection initiatives.
A Decade of Environmental Advocacy
The tenth edition of the forum aims to consolidate its position as a key space for promoting sustainable alternatives, fostering environmental education, and presenting innovative solutions for businesses and households. The official presentation of the event was held at the facilities of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Canaco Servytur) Mérida.
The 2026 program will feature conferences and talks led by specialists, with proposals designed to strengthen environmental awareness and encourage concrete actions. Beyond its educational core, the forum will include artistic and cultural activities for all ages, such as dance academy performances, storytelling, and other expressions tailored for children and adults.
Leadership Emphasizes Collaboration and Urgency
During the presentation, the president of Canaco Servytur Mérida, José Eduardo Molina Casares, welcomed attendees and emphasized the forum's purpose. "This space was created to foster awareness, innovation, and action regarding the environment," he stated. He stressed that economic development must now go hand in hand with sustainability more than ever.
Molina Casares also acknowledged the collaboration of strategic partners and extended special thanks to the State Government, particularly the Ministry of Sustainable Development (SDS), for its continued support of the annual effort.
The head of the SDS, Neyra Concepción Silva Rosado, outlined the central theme for the upcoming edition. She revealed the theme as "The Future is Today," a message she said "invites us to transform from now on the way we live, build and project our environment."
Featured Activities and Exhibitors
Notable activities planned for the forum include "Green Renaissance," featuring tree distribution to promote reforestation, and the butterfly garden “Wings and Wishes,” where visitors can learn about the life cycle of butterflies, their ecological role, and conservation actions. The event will also host the participation of Sentinels of Water, an organization recognized across the Yucatán Peninsula for its work in aquifer protection.
The official presentation was also attended by the president of Expos de Canaco Servytur Mérida, Gerardo Sánchez Puigserver; the director of the Environment and Animal Welfare Unit of the Mérida City Council, Raúl Fernando Escalante Aguilar; and the Marketing and Communication manager of Perfect Home, José Manuel Cabrera Salazar.
