Mexico — The Maya Train has once again surprised travelers with a unique promotion designed to boost tourism in southeastern Mexico. Throughout November 2025, users will be able to enjoy free travel on one of the country's most emblematic routes.

The offer aims to incentivize the use of the new railway system and introduce more people to the natural, archaeological, and cultural destinations of the region. Since its inauguration, the Maya Train has established itself as one of the most ambitious connectivity projects in Mexico, having transported over 1.6 million passengers in less than a year.

The special November promotion will allow travelers to purchase a one-way ticket and obtain the return ticket at no additional cost. This initiative is part of the strategies to position the train as a modern, safe, and sustainable alternative.

With 34 operational stations throughout Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo, this campaign aims to strengthen local tourism and encourage travel among the communities of the southeast. From beaches to archaeological zones, passengers will be able to enjoy unique landscapes and the comfort offered by this mode of transport.

Special Promotion: How to Travel for Free on the Maya Train

During the month of November, the Maya Train will offer return tickets at no cost when a one-way ticket is purchased at any of its stations. The promotion is valid across the entire railway network, from Palenque to Cancún, but only during the month of November.

To take advantage of the offer, tickets can be purchased both at the ticket office and online through the official Maya Train website. Authorities emphasize that the free travel cannot be used outside the established period, meaning both journeys must be completed within the same month. This measure seeks to maintain order and ensure all users can benefit from the discount.

Additional Discounts and Passenger Benefits

In addition to the 2-for-1 promotion, the Maya Train maintains permanent discounts for senior citizens, students, teachers, and persons with disabilities. These benefits are applied upon presenting an official identification or medical certificate at ticket sales points.

The railway project also offers accessible conditions for travelers with reduced mobility, with adapted spaces and support staff at each station. Authorities state that these actions reinforce the Maya Train's commitment to inclusion and social tourism, allowing more segments of the population to experience the attractions of southeastern Mexico.

The Maya Train permits the boarding of small pets, provided they present an updated vaccination card. Assistance or emotional support dogs are also allowed to board, with documentation certifying their function. This measure aims to guarantee a safe and orderly travel experience for all passengers.

As of October 2025, the Maya Train has transported over 1.6 million users, with a daily average of 3,300 passengers. The routes with the highest demand are Mérida–Cancún, Cancún–Mérida, and Cancún–Playa del Carmen, reflecting the tourism boom generated by this new mode of transport.
