Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The night of Friday, June 21, 2025, was filled with vibrant colors as the red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple hues of the LGBTIQ+ flag illuminated the Moby Dick entertainment center. The evening was a dazzling display of glamour, elegance, and sequins, featuring five contestants who walked the runway before Mandy Rose and Oswaldo Camal were crowned Kings of Diversity 2025.

A Night of Glamour and Talent

Representing the municipal president, Secretary General Margarita Berrios Vázquez attended the event, accompanied by Javier Ovidio Vázquez, the fifth councilor of the Sexual Diversity and Events Commission. Also present were the outgoing 2024 kings, Sadel Rodríguez and Andrés Matos, and the 2025 godmother, Cynthia Barroso, who received the ceremonial staff from the 2024 godmother, Ana López.

The contestants showcased their creativity, talent, and beauty across four segments: swimwear, casual attire, monumental costume, and evening gown. The event elevated glamour to the purest queer and drag style, a hallmark of the community’s artistry.

The Contestants and Their Themes

The participants included:

  • Miss Máxime, with the theme “Beauty That Transcends, Attitude That Inspires,” presenting a costume inspired by the Monument to the Swallows.
  • Cecilio Noé González, with the theme “Living Inspiration, Passion Personified,” featuring a costume based on the Clock Monument.
  • Lizzo Leal, with the theme “Strength, Elegance, and a Heart Full of Fight,” paying tribute to Frida Kahlo.
  • Oswaldo Camal, with the theme “Pride, Commitment, and Authenticity,” presenting a costume inspired by the Diver Monument.
  • Mandy Rose, with the theme “Sweetness and Empowerment Transformed into Presence,” honoring the Goddess Ixchel.

Special Performances and Judges

Joana Roldán, a top drag artist from Cozumel, and Avril Inn, the Diversity Queen of Cancún, delivered a majestic performance that electrified the audience.

The judging panel consisted of:

  • Cordelia Durango, a drag queen and former contestant on La Más Draga.
  • Linger Michelle Méndez, an activist and coordinator of Sexual Diversity for the Benito Juárez municipality.
  • Limo King, an artist, designer, and drag king from Mérida, Yucatán.

The event celebrated diversity, artistry, and the vibrant spirit of Cozumel’s LGBTIQ+ community.
