Cancún Man Charged in Child Pornography Case

Cancún, Mexico — The Quintana Roo State Attorney General's Office (FGE) announced that a control judge has ordered a suspect identified as Alejandro Esteban N. to be formally charged and face trial for his alleged involvement in acts constituting the crime of human trafficking in its modality of child pornography.

The suspect was arrested following a joint investigation between Mexican and United States authorities, which located him in the Supermanzana 247 district of Cancún, where he allegedly stored and distributed illegal material.

Joint Operation Between Mexico and the United States

The capture of the alleged perpetrator was the result of intelligence work conducted by the FGE, in collaboration with the United States Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

During the operation, which was supported by the National Guard, agents secured various electronic devices containing 591 files with child pornography material, mostly featuring images of girls, boys, and adolescents.

After the presentation of the evidence, the judge determined that sufficient elements existed to order the suspect, Alejandro Esteban N., to be formally charged and face trial. The judge also imposed the precautionary measure of justified preventive detention for a term of two years while the judicial process develops.

Digital Surveillance and International Cooperation Reinforced

The Quintana Roo Attorney General's Office highlighted the importance of international collaboration in the fight against child trafficking and exploitation, underscoring that the search for possible accomplices and the detection of networks dedicated to this type of crime in the state will continue.

The authorities reiterated their commitment to protecting children and combating digital crimes that violate their integrity.
