Quintana Roo, Mexico — In an effort to boost tourism in the communities of Lázaro Cárdenas, the local government has announced plans to install an information module at the Nuevo Xcan station of the Maya Train. The initiative aims to highlight the natural beauty of nearby towns such as Solferino, Pac Chen, and Tres Reyes, promoting ecotourism as a key economic driver for the region.
Strategic Partnership for Tourism Development
The project is spearheaded by Municipal President Nivardo Mena, who has prioritized ecotourism as part of the area’s sustainable growth strategy. Felipe de Jesús Dzib Dzul, the municipal director of ecotourism, recently met with Captain Bulmaro Vargas Hernández, the station manager of the Maya Train, to coordinate efforts in positioning the station as a hub for tourism promotion.
“We aim to establish a dedicated space within the station to provide personalized information to Maya Train visitors,” Dzib Dzul emphasized. The module will offer travelers detailed guidance on ecotourism activities available in the region, as well as the advantages of using the train to explore its natural wonders.
Showcasing Local Communities
The initiative will promote several communities, including Pac Chen, Tres Reyes, El Cedral, Naranjal, and Solferino. Beyond attracting tourists, the strategy seeks to create sustainable income opportunities for families who have long relied on ecotourism as their livelihood.
This project presents a significant opportunity for local communities to showcase their natural and cultural heritage, potentially leading to a notable increase in tourist visits. By enhancing the traveler experience, the module is also expected to contribute to the region’s economic development, delivering tangible benefits to residents.
Commitment to Sustainable Growth
The Lázaro Cárdenas municipal government reaffirms its dedication to sustainable development and environmental preservation through this ecotourism initiative. The collaboration with the Maya Train underscores a broader effort to integrate local attractions into Mexico’s expanding transportation network.
