Isla Mujeres to Host Inclusive Father’s Day Race ‘Juntos Hasta La Meta’

Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The Isla Mujeres municipal government, led by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, has invited families to participate in the 2026 Father’s Day Inclusive Race, titled “Juntos Hasta la Meta” (Together to the Finish Line). The event aims to strengthen family bonds, promote healthy lifestyles, and foster inclusion.

The recreational activity is designed for fathers and children to share a sporting experience in an integrated environment. It is organized by the Municipal Sports Department and the DIF Isla Mujeres family welfare system as part of efforts to create spaces for well-being and family unity.

The race will feature adapted categories to ensure all families can take part. Categories include father and child (ages 1–5) in a stroller, father and child (ages 6–15) walking or running, and an inclusive category for participants in wheelchairs.

The event will take place on Friday, June 19, at 6:00 p.m. Registration is free and can be completed in advance at the Sports Department offices or on the day of the event.

Organizers said prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each category, and all participating fathers will receive medals. Participants must present a valid ID for the father or guardian, the child’s birth certificate, and sign a liability waiver.
