Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The government of Isla Mujeres, led by Municipal President Atenea Gómez Ricalde, has joined the National Day of Tequios and Murals "Arte que Transforma" (Art That Transforms). This initiative is part of the National Strategy for Peace and Against Addictions promoted by the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum.

According to a statement, the work day was held at the Colegio de Bachilleres of Ciudad Mujeres in the Zona Continental, where students, teachers, and municipal authorities gathered from early in the morning.

"In Isla Mujeres, we are convinced that art, education, and community participation are pathways to transform the lives of our youth. With this work day, we are reclaiming public spaces and sowing messages of peace, unity, and hope," said the Director of Youth, Axel Canché Pool.

The agenda began early with the conference "Youth Against Addictions," which shared messages and reflections on the importance of keeping young people away from drugs and strengthening their life projects.

Subsequently, a colorful mural created within the "Arte que Transforma" program was inaugurated. The program aims to reclaim public spaces and send messages of peace, unity, and hope to the youth.

Canché Pool highlighted that these actions are part of a national strategy coordinated with the Instituto Mexicano de la Juventud (Mexican Youth Institute), the Secretaría de Educación (Ministry of Education), and the Colegio de Bachilleres.

He added that the government of Isla Mujeres maintains a firm conviction to work hand-in-hand with the student community, parents, and educational institutions to build a municipality with more opportunities and free from addictions.

These actions are aligned with the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, promoted by the state governor, Mara Lezama Espinosa, which seeks to ensure every young person has access to a better future.
