Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The municipal government of Isla Mujeres has invited residents and visitors to attend the fourth edition of the Ceviche El Cangrejito Playero competition, scheduled for Sunday, August 10, at 7:30 p.m. on the Municipal Esplanade. The event aims to celebrate the island’s culinary heritage and honor local chefs.
Gastronomic Showcase and Registration Details
Organized by the General Directorate of Economic Development and Tourism, the competition is part of broader efforts to promote culinary culture and tourism in the municipality. Interested participants may register until Friday, August 8, at the Tourism Office between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Historical Exhibition Highlights Island’s Legacy
In a separate initiative, Mayor Atenea Gómez’s administration has extended an invitation to locals and tourists alike to visit the exhibition Isla Mujeres: Ayer, Hoy y Siempre (Isla Mujeres: Yesterday, Today, and Always). The display features replicas of traditional wooden houses and will remain open throughout August at no cost.
The exhibition is part of commemorative activities designed to strengthen local identity and pride among island families. It also seeks to showcase the cultural richness and charm of Isla Mujeres as a Pueblo Mágico (Magic Town) on national and international platforms.
The colorful wooden houses reflect the island’s living history, welcoming spirit, and picturesque beauty. The exhibit includes historical artifacts, photographs, and references that guide visitors through the community’s developmental milestones.
