Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — In an atmosphere of unity, tradition, and national pride, Isla Mujeres experienced a grand patriotic celebration led by Municipal President Atenea Gómez Ricalde, who joined the island's residents in commemorating the traditional Cry of Independence on September 15, 2025.

The festivities commenced with the colorful "Parade of Joy" along the emblematic Hidalgo Street. Directors from various municipal departments, families, and visitors gathered to enjoy the music, dances, and festive ambiance that distinguishes this Magic Town.

The Cry of Independence ceremony was held at the Municipal Esplanade, where a cultural festival filled with tradition, music, and pride for national roots was conducted beforehand. Shortly after 11 p.m., the island's mayor, accompanied by civil and military authorities, initiated the official protocol at the City Hall.

The honor guard from the Ninth Naval Region presented the national flag, which was received and hoisted with honor and respect by the mayor.

With the flag in her hands, the Municipal President proceeded to the main balcony of the Government Palace, where she rang the bell three times and evoked the call for freedom and justice that gave origin to the nation.

The Secretary General of the City Council, Hugo Iván Sánchez Montalvo, read the "Sentiments of the Nation," recalling the values and principles that unite the people.

As cries of "Long live Mexico, long live Isla Mujeres!" rang out and the national flag was waved, the island community responded with enthusiasm and Mexican fervor.

Atenea Gómez emphasized that the Municipal Government promotes these types of celebrations to strengthen identity, keep traditions alive, and continue building a municipality with peace, joy, and hope for all island families.
