Chetumal, Mexico — In an atmosphere filled with joy, tradition, and pride, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa and the municipal president of Othón P. Blanco, Yensunni Martínez Hernández, inaugurated the 50th edition of EXPOFER, the emblematic Feria de la Frontera Sur that celebrates half a century of history and represents the cultural identity of Chetumal and the south of Quintana Roo.
The Parque Quintana Roo was designated as the official and permanent venue for the fair, a space that, in the words of the Governor, "beats again with the heart of the south," as it brings together families, artisans, producers, and visitors from the state and the neighboring country of Belize.
The Fair That Unites Culture, Tradition, and Local Economy
During her address, Mara Lezama recalled that the first edition of EXPOFER was held in 1975, one year after the creation of the state of Quintana Roo, and highlighted that this fair "recognizes the work of rural women, producers, and artisans who keep our traditions alive."
The event offers a wide variety of activities such as concerts, boxing, wrestling, cultural nights, mechanical rides, a livestock exhibition, and a gastronomic and artisan showcase, establishing itself as a meeting point for families and culture.
Furthermore, the governor announced that just a few meters from the fairgrounds, the construction of the urban archaeological zone of Chetumal is progressing, part of the "Mi México Late" program, promoted by the Federal Government.

For her part, Yensunni Martínez Hernández emphasized that Expofer 2025 is "an open window to show the world the cultural and productive wealth of the south of the state," and invited the population and visitors to enjoy this celebration.
The ceremony culminated with the coronation of Naylea Monserrat Pinzón Cruz as Queen of Expofer 2025 and the cutting of the inaugural ribbon, officially marking the start of this great Chetumal celebration.
