Police and emergency services respond to an alleged sexual harassment incident at Hotel Shibari in Tulum

Tulum, Quintana Roo — A housekeeper at a Tulum hotel reported alleged sexual harassment by a coworker, prompting emergency services and police to respond to the scene on Monday.

The incident occurred at Hotel Shibari, located along the coastal zone at kilometer 7. The woman, who works as a housekeeper, suffered a nervous breakdown following the alleged harassment and required medical attention from paramedics at Tulum Hospital.

Preliminary information indicates the alleged perpetrator is a kitchen employee at the same hotel. Unofficial reports suggest the victim directly identified him as responsible for sexual misconduct that allegedly took place within the workplace.

Police officers arrived at the hotel to document the situation and verify what occurred. The victim has filed a formal complaint with the State Prosecutor’s Office for possible sexual abuse, and authorities have opened an investigation.

Unofficially, sources indicate the accused employee was detained and turned over to authorities, but officials have not confirmed this or provided details about his legal status.

The case has drawn attention because it allegedly occurred within a workplace, highlighting concerns about safety conditions for tourism sector workers in the municipality.

State authorities are expected to provide official information in coming hours to clarify the incident and confirm whether any formal arrests have been made.
