Playa del Carmen Boosts Firefighter Training with Regional Allies

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — As part of the inter-municipal collaboration efforts promoted by the Government of Playa del Carmen, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, personnel from the Heroic Fire Department of Civil Protection provided specialized training to firefighters from the municipality of Puerto Morelos.

Specialized Training for Emergency Response

The training session covered critical topics such as fire behavior, hose usage and handling, structural tactical equipment, oxygenation techniques, and operational safety practices. The objective was to enhance the capabilities of emergency personnel and improve coordinated responses to serve the public more effectively.

Darwin Covarrubias, Secretary of Civil Protection, Risk Prevention, and Firefighting, emphasized the importance of the initiative: "This training is part of our commitment to share knowledge and strengthen the preparedness of all emergency response teams in the region. Collaboration between municipalities is essential to building a solid, efficient, and humane response network for any contingency."

Expanding Regional Cooperation

This is not the first such initiative undertaken by Playa del Carmen’s firefighters. Previously, they also conducted training for their counterparts in the municipality of José María Morelos, reinforcing inter-municipal collaboration to elevate emergency response standards.

Commitment to Professionalization and Safety

Through these actions, the Municipal Government reaffirms its dedication to the professional development of emergency personnel and the establishment of a regional collaboration network to ensure more effective responses to potential risks.
