Playa del Carmen, QR. – The fight against cancer is not fought alone. With that message, Fundación Forjando un Ángel A.C. launched the campaign “Quimioterapia para Todos 2026,” an initiative that directly appeals to citizen solidarity to guarantee oncological treatments throughout the year for low-income patients.
In an interview, José Pérez Martínez, president of the foundation, explained that the fundraising goal is 7 million 400 thousand pesos, resources necessary to ensure chemotherapies, prior medical studies, and transportation for patients who currently do not have timely access to these treatments in public hospitals.
Currently, the foundation has 47 registered cancer patients from Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Cancún, who depend on the continuity of their therapies to maintain their quality of life and even save it.
Pérez Martínez noted that, although there are public hospitals with good infrastructure, saturation and lack of availability have left many patients without chemotherapies in a timely and proper manner. Faced with this situation, the foundation manages treatments in private hospitals, where costs can range from 85 thousand to 300 thousand pesos per chemotherapy, depending on the type of cancer.
“Many of our patients cannot cover even a single chemotherapy. That is why we need to raise around 661 thousand pesos monthly, to guarantee not only the medication, but also the studies and transportation,” he explained.
The organization works with hospitals located in Playa del Carmen, Cancún, Mexico City, Puebla, Querétaro, and Tijuana, seeking available spaces so patients do not interrupt their treatments, as punctuality in chemotherapies is key to their effectiveness.
In addition to raising funds, Quimioterapia para Todos 2026 incorporates a component of awareness and prevention, through talks and conferences that invite the population to undergo timely medical studies.
“Many times we normalize pains or inflammations. Detecting early can mean less aggressive treatments and greater chances of recovery,” emphasized the foundation’s president.
As part of the campaign launch, the first event “Amor por Quimioterapias 2026” will be held on February 14, with a theme aimed at young people and focused on K-pop culture.
The invitation to the campaign “Quimioterapia para Todos 2026” is open to entrepreneurs, dance academies, schools, artists, companies, and influencers, with the goal that each sector of the community contributes from their field and becomes a channel of support for patients.
