Cancún, Mexico — Authorities in Quintana Roo have conducted operations resulting in the capture of four individuals accused of selling drugs and generating violence in the region.

In a coordinated effort to combat the proliferation of organized crime on the Yucatán Peninsula, law enforcement in Quintana Roo secured the detention of four individuals suspected of activities related to drug trafficking. The operations, carried out in different zones of Cancún, led to the apprehension of two people in the Félix González Canto neighborhood. They were found in possession of doses of marijuana, cocaine, and firearms with useful ammunition, linking them to drug distribution activities in the area and possible efforts to organize local violence.

Similarly, two other suspects were arrested in the Centro neighborhood after being caught exchanging substances that, at first glance, appeared to be marijuana, in addition to cocaine, crystal meth, and crack. A 9mm caliber pistol and a motorcycle used in illicit operations were also confiscated from them.

The capture of these individuals is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating in tourist destinations, where drug trafficking is often associated with clashes between rival groups and an increase in insecurity.

All the detainees and the evidence in their possession were remitted to the Public Prosecutor's Office, which continues investigations to determine their participation in more serious crimes and their possible relationship with criminal organizations that destabilize order in the region.

Experts indicate that these efforts reflect the necessity of strengthening security strategies to protect both residents and visitors in key destinations in Quintana Roo and to guarantee social peace in a zone of high tourist traffic.
