CANCÚN, MX — A flamingo, which had been attacked with stones by unknown individuals, was rescued by elements of the Fire Department on Saturday night in the Supermanzana 54 district of this city.

A citizen report alerted authorities that a flamingo was being assaulted in a mangrove area, prompting municipal authorities to activate the corresponding protocol.

Upon arrival, elements of the Fire Department located the bird and, after several minutes, managed to secure it safely.

Subsequently, the flamingo was evaluated by medical personnel to guarantee its state of health and was then handed over to the corresponding wildlife protection authorities.

Through social media, Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta publicized this case of animal maltreatment, sharing several photographs of the bird's rescue.

Furthermore, the Benito Juárez mayor issued a forceful call to the population to avoid animal cruelty.

"In Cancún, we say NO to animal maltreatment and we reaffirm our commitment to the protection of fauna and the care of the balance in our environment," she expressed.
