Cancún, Quintana Roo — A fire on Saturday night consumed part of a palapa-style building at an Xcaret base in Cancún’s hotel zone, with authorities reporting no injuries.
The blaze broke out around 8 p.m. near kilometer 9 of Kukulcán Boulevard at the establishment located near Playa Caracol access, according to the Benito Juárez municipal government.
Emergency services, civil protection personnel, and Benito Juárez firefighters responded to the scene. They controlled the fire within minutes and fully extinguished it to prevent it from spreading to nearby palapas.
“The operation was carried out in coordination with various authorities and emergency services, with support from water supply units to reinforce efforts at the site,” Cancún firefighters said.
The State Civil Protection Coordination reported no injuries from the incident. After 9 p.m., officials said emergency services remained on site conducting cooling operations.
Cancún Civil Protection also confirmed no casualties and added that paramedics remained on standby while personnel conducted prevention and risk verification work to avoid further damage in the area.
Xcaret Group reported only material damage to its Punta Cancún offices and stated the incident does not affect its operations or customer experience.
“Fortunately, according to our security personnel on site and after implementing corresponding protocols, we verified there were no people in the building, so no injuries are reported; only material losses were recorded,” the company detailed in a brief statement circulated by local media.
Xcaret Group also said it is collaborating with authorities to investigate the fire and expressed appreciation to local emergency services for their “prompt response.”
