Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Mexico — A fire completely destroyed a rustic home near the Polyuc and Chunhuhub intersection on the Felipe Carrillo Puerto–José María Morelos federal highway on Friday around midday, prompting a response from emergency services in the region.
Two firefighting units and an ambulance from the same department arrived at the scene, with the ambulance remaining as a precautionary measure.
Due to the rapid spread of the flames, fueled by the home’s construction materials, the property was declared a total loss.
Although the intersection where the incident occurred is in Felipe Carrillo Puerto municipality, firefighters from José María Morelos were called in because of the proximity to a gas station, which posed a latent risk to the area.
After several minutes of work, crews controlled the fire and prevented it from spreading to nearby properties or installations.
The cause of the blaze remains unknown, and no injuries were reported.
The property owner was identified as Santos A. E., 26, who lost all his belongings in the incident.
