Playa del Carmen, QR. Feminist collectives and citizens have called for a peaceful protest this Friday, January 30, in front of the First Instance Oral Family Court, with the purpose of accompanying a judicial hearing and requesting the review of a case related to alleged vicarious violence in a custody process.
The mobilization was announced by Alma Nashelli Gutiérrez Pérez, a mother who has been facing a family litigation for almost two years. According to her testimony, the case file includes the use of a birth certificate that she considers irregular, and she claims to have presented documentary evidence to the corresponding authorities.
As she recounted, the conflict resulted in criminal and family procedures that included her detention and the temporary separation from her daughter, who was later returned to her. Currently, the trial continues in the family sphere with scheduled follow-up hearings.
Victims Network Supports Peaceful Protest
The peaceful protest has the support of the Xtabay collective and the Quintanarroense Victims Network, organizations that seek to make the case visible, provide support to the mother, and request that judgment protocols with gender and childhood perspectives be applied.
The organizers indicated that this peaceful protest does not intend to interfere with the development of the judicial process, but rather to make a public call for review and adequate attention in matters involving girls and boys.
Finally, they reiterated that it is a peaceful protest focused on demanding justice, respect for children’s rights, and guarantees for victims within family processes.
