Cozumel — In an oral trial hearing, the State Attorney General's Office, through the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Criminal Proceedings, secured a 25-year prison sentence against Christian Jesús Torres Medina, also known as Cristian Jesús Torres Mejía and by the alias "El Walas," for his responsibility in the crime of aggravated homicide. The victim's identity remains confidential.
The conviction stems from events that occurred on November 20, 2022, at a residence on 6th South Street in the San Miguel I neighborhood of Cozumel.
According to the investigation, the now-convicted individual arrived at the location on a motorcycle accompanied by an accomplice, while two other men arrived at the site in a car.
During the attack, Christian Jesús Torres Medina remained in the hallway of the house while one of his companions entered the building and fatally shot the victim. After committing the crime, the perpetrators fled the area.
In addition to the prison sentence, the judicial authority imposed a fine of 144,330 pesos on the convicted individual, as well as a payment of 874,722 pesos for the repair of material damage.
