On Saturday, November 30th, Ecocaribe hosted an environmental awareness event focused on their sargablock project, "Bluegreen". The event took place at a nursery in Puerto Morelos and included a tour of "Casa Angelita", the first house constructed using over 2,000 sargablocks.
Sargablocks are similar to adobe in their cooling properties, but they also have the added benefits of being fire-resistant and bulletproof. This innovative building material has already been used to donate seven houses in Quintana Roo to older adults and single women.
Ecocaribe organizes these awareness events to foster a closer connection between people and nature. Participants in this event gained a deeper understanding of how everyday human activities can turn natural phenomena, like the arrival of Sargazo seaweed, into environmental problems.
