A female deer was severely injured after being hit by a vehicle on Kukulkán Avenue in Tulum. This incident triggered emergency responses from various departments. The report was relayed through the emergency hotline 911, which led to the swift response of Civil Protection, the Secretariat of Citizen Security, the Directorate of Environmental Sustainability of Tulum, and the Secretariat of Ecology and Environment of Quintana Roo.

Upon reaching the scene, Civil Protection personnel confirmed that the deer had sustained fractures in her hind legs. These injuries severely affected her mobility and necessitated immediate veterinary attention. After an initial assessment, it was decided to transport her to the Environmental Management Unit (UMA). There, an ultrasound will be conducted to ascertain the extent of her injuries and to determine the appropriate course of treatment.

Despite the presence of road signs warning of animal crossings, accidents continue to happen, endangering protected species. Officials urge drivers to adhere to speed limits and exercise caution in areas where wildlife crossings are common, such as Kukulkán Avenue which connects the city to the coastal region.

Currently, the deer is under medical supervision at the Akumal sanctuary. She is awaiting the results of her diagnostic tests, which will determine her prognosis and the necessary steps for her recovery.
