Decomposing Body Found in Cancun Residential Area

Cancun, Quintana Roo — Police discovered a decomposing body inside a home in Cancun’s Cielo Nuevo neighborhood after neighbors reported strong foul odors coming from the residence.

The body, believed to be that of a man, was found in an advanced state of decomposition at a house on Isla Nueva Caledonia Street in Block 545 of Region 249. Authorities said the person appeared to have lived alone, but the identity remains unknown.

Neighbors alerted emergency services through the 911 system about the foul smells. Municipal police officers in unit 5039 responded as first responders but found the home locked with metal security bars, requiring firefighters to force entry.

Once inside, officers located the body. Preliminary information indicates no obvious signs of violence, though authorities are continuing their investigation.

The State Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation and is gathering information from neighbors to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
