Cozumel to Close 2025 with Intense Cruise Activity
Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The island of Cozumel is preparing to receive a total of 36 cruise ships during the closing week of 2025 and beginning of 2026, according to the schedule published by the Integral Port Administration of Quintana Roo (APIQROO). The calendar spans from December 29, 2025, to January 4, 2026, with days of high activity that consolidate Cozumel as one of the main destinations for this segment in the Caribbean.
On December 31, 2025, the arrival of six vessels is expected, including the Icon of the Seas, considered one of the largest and most modern ships in the industry. The start of the year will be no less significant, as January 1, 2026, is expected to see the arrival of seven cruise ships, representing an important economic boost for the local tourism sector, benefiting service providers, businesses, and restaurants.
Until the end of November, official statistics from APIQROO recorded the arrival of 1,138 vessels, a figure that represents an increase of 11.86 percent compared to the same period in 2024, when 1,131 ships were counted. Regarding passenger flow, last year reported 4,140,994 cruise passengers, while from January to November 2025, the number rose to 4,160,459, representing a growth of 9.94 percent.
Port authorities indicated that these figures could increase by the end of the year, as the season currently underway is considered the highest in terms of cruise arrivals. If the trend continues, Cozumel could reach or even exceed 5 million visitors from this segment, consolidating its position as a leading destination in the region.
The arrival of these vessels confirms the island’s relevance within the routes offered by major international shipping companies and reinforces the importance of cruise tourism as an economic driver.
