Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation (FPMC) will open two of its major parks on Sundays during the upcoming spring break period to provide additional recreation options for residents and visitors.
FPMC Director General Juanita Alonso Marrufo announced that Chankanaab Park will open on April 5 and Punta Sur Park on April 12, both operating from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. These parks typically operate Monday through Saturday but extend to Sundays during peak vacation seasons to meet increased demand.
Island residents can access Chankanaab Park, Punta Sur Park, the San Gervasio Tourist Stop, and the Island Museum for free by presenting a valid FPMC membership card. Those without a card can obtain one at the foundation’s main office on Avenida 30, between Avenida Juárez and Calle Primera, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The process requires in-person attendance for photo capture.
For adults, the card costs 100 pesos and requires a copy of official identification (INE) and proof of address no older than three months. For minors, it costs 50 pesos and requires a copy of the parent or guardian’s INE, birth certificate, and proof of address. Both cards are valid for two years and provide free entry to these tourist sites at any time.
Alonso Marrufo added that preferential rates are available for visitors from Quintana Roo and other parts of Mexico, who can access these benefits by showing official identification when purchasing tickets.
She noted these measures align with the New Agreement for Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, which strengthens the state’s tourism vocation as the world’s vacation capital by promoting accessible, safe, and quality spaces for everyone.
