Tulum, Quintana Roo — Corey Harrison, the American television personality best known for his role on the History Channel series Pawn Stars, is facing a severe financial crisis following a serious motorcycle accident in Tulum earlier this year.
The accident in January 2026 left Harrison with 11 broken ribs, a concussion, and facial injuries, leading to mounting medical bills and an inability to work during his recovery. His bank account now holds just over $400, while medical debts continue to accumulate.
The Accident and Initial Hospitalization
Harrison was hospitalized for three nights after the crash. From his hospital bed, he posted a message on social media detailing his injuries.
“I’m pretty messed up, but I’m okay. The crash bars are great. Three nights in the hospital, eleven fractures in the rib cage. I’ll do an episode of The Corey Harrison Show. Sorry, Dad. Looks like I’m missing your wedding,” he wrote at the time.
Medical Complications and Transfer to Mérida
Two weeks after leaving the hospital due to mounting bills, Harrison’s condition worsened at his Tulum home. A doctor administered fluids and morphine, but his oxygen levels dropped dangerously, requiring hospitalization he could not afford.
Friends transferred him to a more affordable hospital in Mérida, Yucatán, over four hours away. There, doctors discovered a fractured rib was pressing against a lung. They stabilized him after draining three liters of blood from his chest cavity and performing three surgeries.
“Corey looked at us and said, ‘I’m going to die here. I don’t have money to keep paying you.’ We knew we couldn’t let that happen,” said his friend Aron Chambers.
Mounting Debts and Fundraising Campaign
After 18 days in the Mérida hospital, Harrison returned to Tulum to continue rehabilitation. His financial situation remains dire: he owes three months of rent, has borrowed money from family and friends including his father Rick Harrison, and has only $400 in his bank account.
Friends have launched a GoFundMe campaign that has raised approximately $6,900 so far. The fundraising page notes that television fame doesn’t guarantee protection from medical emergencies: “Being on television and being part of the Pawn Stars fame does not offer comprehensive protection for emergencies like this.”
Long Road to Recovery
Harrison has expressed discomfort relying on public help but acknowledges he has no alternative. The lack of resources prevents him from returning to the United States for continued treatment.
“I can’t even get up normally,” explained Harrison, who continues to face a prolonged recovery process from the Tulum accident.
