Cancun, a city in the state of Quintana Roo, will be the host for the IV Ibero-American Cities Forum. The event is scheduled for April 8 and 9 at the Cancun Center, located in the municipality of Benito Juarez. This decision aligns with Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa's vision of creating a more equitable, modern, and sustainable Quintana Roo.

The forum, an international gathering lasting two days, will bring together a diverse group of leaders, specialists, authorities, and representatives from both national and international organizations. The event will also feature the expertise of professionals in the fields of urban development and territorial planning.

Key topics to be addressed during the forum include the structured growth of cities, sustainable mobility, climate resilience, and citizen participation. These discussions will be led by José Alberto Alonso Ovando, the head of the Secretariat of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development (SEDETUS), who works closely with Governor Mara Lezama.

The Ibero-American Cities Forum is in line with the goals of the New Quintana Roo Development Plan. This plan aims to bring about significant change, focusing on social perspectives, sustainability, and collective well-being.

Hosting the forum in Cancun provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the state as a global reference point for sustainable urban development and territorial governance. It also encourages the sharing of best practices, which can further enhance the public policies implemented in Quintana Roo.

The event is free and open to the public, but prior registration on the official site, www.fundacionciudad.org, is required.
