Cancun, Quintana Roo — Cancun is set to host the Cancun Fut Fest, a free public event at Malecon Tajamar featuring a giant screen for Mexico’s World Cup debut against South Africa on June 11, 2026.

The festival, organized by state and municipal authorities, aims to promote family togetherness, use of public spaces, and sports as a tool for social integration. Attendees can enjoy a mix of football, entertainment, local cuisine, and recreational activities for all ages.

Giant Screen and World Cup Atmosphere

The centerpiece of the event will be a large screen installed at Malecon Tajamar, broadcasting the opening ceremony and the match between Mexico and South Africa live. Organizers said the technological infrastructure is already in place to ensure high-quality viewing.

The event is open to both residents and tourists in Cancun during the tournament’s opening day.

Sports Challenges and Panini Sticker Trading

In addition to the match broadcast, the festival will offer a wide range of sports and recreational activities, including:

  • 3-on-3 football matches
  • Foot tennis areas
  • Free play zones for children and youth
  • Panini World Cup sticker trading
  • Themed contests and activities
  • Music and entertainment throughout the day

Organizers recommend attendees bring their own soccer balls to join the sports activities.

Local Food and Support for Entrepreneurs

The Cancun Fut Fest will also feature a food corridor where local entrepreneurs and vendors will offer food, snacks, and drinks. The initiative aims to boost the local economy and provide a complete experience for visitors staying for several hours.

For security reasons, the following items are prohibited:

  • Glass containers
  • Sharp objects
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Any items that could pose a risk to others

Due to expected high attendance, officials recommend arriving early to secure a good spot in front of the main screen.
