Chetumal, Quintana Roo — A woman employed in the cafeteria of the Conalep college in the state capital died this morning inside the school, allegedly after suffering a fall that caused a craniocerebral fracture.
According to preliminary reports, the worker reportedly slipped while carrying out her duties, hitting her head on the floor. Some students recounted that they witnessed the moment the woman fell, and although help was requested immediately, she was no longer showing vital signs when emergency services arrived.
However, another version has also emerged suggesting that the cause of death may have been a sudden cardiac arrest, though this information has not been officially confirmed by the authorities.
In response to the unfortunate event, school staff began evacuating the student body, while security personnel and medical services arrived at the scene to carry out the corresponding procedures. The area was cordoned off as officials await the arrival of personnel from the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for the removal of the body.
The college has not yet issued an official statement. Authorities are expected to announce the exact cause of death in the coming hours. The incident has caused consternation among students, teachers, and parents.
