Yucatán, Mexico — YouTube sensation MrBeast has once again captured global attention, this time by undertaking a 100-hour survival challenge in the ancient temples of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. The content creator explored iconic archaeological sites, including the pyramid of Chichén Itzá and the ruins of Calakmul, during the first 40 hours of his adventure.
A Local Expert’s Guidance
Accompanying MrBeast on this expedition was Playa del Carmen-based biologist and activist Roberto Rojo, who served as his guide through the region’s historical and ecological wonders. Though Rojo appeared only briefly in the video, his segment showcased one of the most striking moments of the journey: an exploration of a bat-filled cave.
Rojo highlighted the potential for undiscovered treasures hidden beneath layers of bat guano, though he subtly emphasized that the true riches of the area lie in its biodiversity and natural beauty.
Online Reactions
Following the video’s release, social media users celebrated Rojo’s appearance alongside the globally renowned YouTuber. One post, shared by Rojo himself on Facebook, read: “No way, I was watching MrBeast’s video and there’s the incredible Roberto Rojo. What?! Long live the cenotes, long live Mexico, and long live the bats, hahaha!”
