Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — Authorities seized a property along the cenote route in Puerto Morelos after uncovering the alleged illegal sale of lots without environmental or urban development permits.
The State Prosecutor’s Office of Quintana Roo, in coordination with the Mexican Navy, conducted the operation following a judge’s authorization based on a complaint from the Quintana Roo Environmental Protection Agency.
Initial investigations indicate the site was promoting commercial lot sales despite lacking necessary approvals for environmental impact, land use, and urban development.
Biologists from the Quintana Roo State College of Biologists participated in the intervention, conducting assessments to detect potential environmental damage such as vegetation removal or terrain modifications.
The property remains secured as investigations continue to identify those responsible for marketing the land and determine any environmental harm.
The case remains under investigation as authorities work to establish accountability for the alleged irregular land sales in this area near the cenote route.
