Cancún, Quintana Roo — Authorities rescued 39 women who are suspected victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation during a raid on a bar in the Benito Juárez municipality. The operation involved coordinated efforts between the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office, the Mexican Army, and the National Guard.
The State Prosecutor’s Office said the raid followed an investigation by its Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Human Trafficking, which obtained a search warrant from a judge to enter the establishment.
During the operation, authorities located the 39 women who were allegedly being sexually exploited at the location. After securing the scene, officials moved the victims to receive care and support due to their vulnerable condition.
After completing the operation, agents placed security seals on the establishment, which remains under the custody of the prosecutor’s office as part of the ongoing investigation.
The State Prosecutor’s Office reported that evidence collected at the scene has been handed over to the public prosecutor, who will continue building the case file to determine responsibility and pursue charges against those implicated in the crime.
Authorities stated they maintain ongoing operations to combat human trafficking and protect victims, particularly in the state’s tourist areas.
